When I was a cabin crew I am very particular with our pilots' well-being, especially during long haul flights. I make sure that they receive enough sustenance to keep them mentally alert as we traverse the skies. During lull moments, I would even pop in the cockpit for a chit-chat to keep them up and about. It’s not easy to stay awake constantly for hours, especially on a night flight.
In exchange, our pilots make sure that we get to our destination as scheduled. If in case we encounter turbulent skies, they’d also do their best to maneuver around unfriendly clouds, and bring us to an altitude that we would feel safe and secure.
That’s the dynamics between the flight deck crew, and the cabin crew. It is a give and take relationship.
Belongingness is one of life’s important aspects. We need to feel connected with people who will accept us for who we are — with those who will cheer and support us in our endeavors.
When we surround ourselves with support systems, we are motivated to strive for more, and to help others achieve more. We must keep notes of others’ progress and assist those who are lagging. There will be times when we get sidetracked along the way, but someone will put us back on track.
Technology has made it easier for people to communicate with one another. Many of us are seeking out like-minded people, forming online groups, and supporting initiatives. These communities enable us to display our hidden abilities, knowledge, and expertise. We can offer our assistance no matter the distance.
I joined, and managed several Facebook groups. I feel elated whenever people share their ideas, engage with others, and create online events exclusive for the group. We keep track of one another's progress, provide advice and alternatives, and marvel at how well their tips worked!
It is truly amazing when I fly with the perfect set of crew. It doesn't matter where they're from — what nationality or culture. Just like in life, it matters what quality of people we have in our circle. Are they those who want to give the best of themselves to make life more joyful and meaningful? And more importantly, are they they the type who wish to make this world a better place?
Let us enjoy a life ignited. Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog.
