I juggle a lot of tasks, and wear a lot of hats all every single day. I’m not going to lie: on days which are more challenging than others, I feel like quitting. One time, I decided to do my work while listening to one of my favorite classic songs of the 70’s, September by Earth, Wind, and Fire.
With the help of its upbeat melody, my mood has lifted, and I feel more energized. It gave me the impression that my task was going more smoothly and quickly.

When I was a cabin crew I am very particular with our pilots' well-being, especially during long haul flights. I make sure that they receive enough sustenance to keep them mentally alert as we traverse the skies. During lull moments, I would even pop in the cockpit for a chit-chat to keep them up and about. It’s not easy to stay awake constantly for hours, especially on a night flight.
In exchange, our pilots make sure that we get to our destination as scheduled. If in case we encounter turbulent skies, they’d also do their best to maneuver around unfriendly clouds, and bring us to an altitude that we would feel safe and secure.
That’s the dynamics between the flight deck crew, and the cabin crew. It is a give and take relationship.
Belongingness is one of life’s important aspects. We need to feel connected with people who will accept us for who we are — with those who will cheer and support us in our endeavors.
When we surround ourselves with support systems, we are motivated to strive for more, and to help others achieve more. We must keep notes of others’ progress and assist those who are lagging. There will be times when we get sidetracked along the way, but someone will put us back on track.
Technology has made it easier for people to communicate with one another. Many of us are seeking out like-minded people, forming online groups, and supporting initiatives. These communities enable us to display our hidden abilities, knowledge, and expertise. We can offer our assistance no matter the distance.
I joined, and managed several Facebook groups. I feel elated whenever people share their ideas, engage with others, and create online events exclusive for the group. We keep track of one another's progress, provide advice and alternatives, and marvel at how well their tips worked!
It is truly amazing when I fly with the perfect set of crew. It doesn't matter where they're from — what nationality or culture. Just like in life, it matters what quality of people we have in our circle. Are they those who want to give the best of themselves to make life more joyful and meaningful? And more importantly, are they they the type who wish to make this world a better place?

Whenever I need to get myself back on track, here’s what I like to do. I take out my mat, get comfy, close my eyes, and meditate. I self-reflect, de-clutter my mind, and bring back inner peace into my soul.
Nowadays, meditation has become a crucial practice for many people in the world. It has grown beyond monastic practices. It has integrated into our regular lives, no matter how busy yet demanding life gets.
Meditation is a tool that can offer us inner calm through difficult times and bring us tranquility in our chaotic world. It helps us find some semblance of peace amidst all this noise and living in the present moment.
Many studies have been conducted to back up how meditation is beneficial for us. It keeps our mental health in check by lowering our stress levels and anxieties. It also leads to physical health. When we feel more relaxed, our immune systems work better and respond more positively to stressors.
Meditation lets us be more mindful of our thoughts and reflections. It develops mental strength and emotional intelligence. It can lead us towards greater self-peace and a life full of wellness.
Enough of its benefits. Here’s a quick mindfulness practice that you can do anytime to train your mind to choose the thoughts that would serve you well.
Find a comfortable place. Sit upright. Square your shoulders, with your chin parallel to the ground. Take 3 nasal breaths in and out, as you slow down your breathing pattern. And then start focusing on your sense of hearing. Listen to the sound that you can hear from the closest to the farthest. And allow yourself to appreciate every sound that you hear. Be grateful for your sense of hearing. Stay in that moment for as long as you want, and end your practice by bringing your awareness again to your breath, just like the way you started. Whenever you’re ready, blink your eyes open.
