When I was searching for inspirational videos, I suddenly stumbled upon this video that offers ASMR, and a virtual Reiki session at the same time. I was amazed when I read the comments where they have felt tingles and a sense of relaxation seep into their systems.

I was actually an active Reiki practitioner before I left AbuDhabi 2016. I think that Reiki is a great way to jump-start our journey towards holistic well-being. If you want a boost of wellness, you can try out different forms of natural healing — like Reiki.

What exactly is Reiki? It originated from Japan as a way of healing energies. It is believed that each one of us has a life force energy flowing inside our bodies. When we are upset, apprehensive, or otherwise agitated, our life forces are less likely to flow freely and end up being obstructed.

The purpose of Reiki healing is to remove those blocks and to promote healing, and overall wellness.

What can we expect in a Reiki session? First, it is important to keep an open mind when it comes to Reiki.

The practitioner will ask you to sit on a chair in a quiet setting. They will first help you relax, and maybe perform some breathing exercises before doing the actual session.

Then they will place their hands a few inches above your body using hand gestures without actually touching it. It generally lasts around 20 minutes or more.

Expect to feel some warm and tingling sensations throughout the session. Some may get emotional or end up crying. That is normal. After a session or a few more, you’ll find yourself refreshed and less tired.

You’ll get to enjoy a better quality of life, and may feel relieved of some of your physical pain.

This October 9, my Reiki Master Kasey Conrad and team are launching a global initiative called ‘Reaching Out With Reiki’. If you know someone who’s a cancer survivor at all stages of cancer, and at any age, a Reiki practitioner or would like to volunteer please visit the site reachingoutwithreiki.com

It is my habit during lunch break to recharge by doing some breathwork, and stretches before eating. And my dessert is not something I eat. It’s taking a peek at my social media accounts. I would search for posts of funny videos and memes of my friends that I could share via DM or private groups. I would consider it a gold mine if it would make me laugh out loud at my desk. It made me feel terrific, and somehow whatever stress I may have would seem to disappear in an instant! Not to mention, it made me more focused, and more productive with my work for the rest of the day!

We’ve all heard the saying “Laughter is the best medicine,” and there’s plenty of studies that could back it up! Laughter offers numerous health benefits. It maintains both physical and mental wellness for peak performance.

Let us count the ways laughter benefits our overall well-being.

· Laughter is good cardio! They say that 15 mins of laughter can burn up to 40 calories.

· Laughter helps to alleviate stress, bottled up emotions, and physical strain.

· Laughter boosts our immune system, and keeps us protected from diseases.

· Laughter provides an outlet for emotional release and relief.

· Laughter connects us with people. It fosters positivity, and builds stronger ties with them.

A good chuckle can take away a good chunk of toxic energy in your life. Have you heard a good joke? Please share it with us so that we can laugh about it together!

I remember the day I decided to apply and work abroad. Some of my loved ones didn’t like my decision which stung my heart. When I was in the Middle East, I'd serve passengers, even the most difficult ones, with my brightest smile. My colleagues admired how strong I was, and how I handled unpleasant passengers gracefully.

Little did anybody know I was battling homesickness, stress, and sleep debt. I kept telling myself mentally that I cannot mess up, or else there would be consequences.

And those setbacks shaped me to be who I am today.

As we go on through life, we experience failures, disappointments, and heartbreaks. Sometimes all we could do is just cry it out and reflect on the what-ifs. But let us also consider what we could do better, plan better, and try again.

People were given the ability to hope and to use that hope to stand up again. Progress manifests itself in a variety of ways. What matters is that you keep going. If you can't run, walk. And if you can't walk, crawl! It doesn’t matter how fast you get there!

The unfortunate happens but we have the power to turn our luck around.
