Staying active is one of the keys to wellness. If we enrich ourselves physically, we also get enriched mentally and emotionally. But let’s admit it, a lot of us are struggling to find time to get fit in the middle of our work shifts.

Why should we stay active while in the middle of work?

Studies have shown that having active opportunities at work showed a significant improvement in performance and workplace dynamics. Meanwhile, workers get better moods, sound sleep, and protection from diseases. Their creativity, focus, and memory skills also improve.

It’s a win-win situation!

Here are some tips to remain active while in the workplace:

  • Take walk breaks. If you’re working from home, step out.

  • Create adjustments on your work commute, like walking or biking to your workplace.

  • Do some quick stretches at least every 20-30 minutes. I love arm stretches and neck flexion exercises.

  • Take the stairs.

  • Keep workstation-friendly equipment in your area, such as weights and hand grips.

  • Use lunchtime as an opportunity for something more intense, like 10 squats perhaps or high lunges.

Finding time to be active during work may be challenging but the benefits are worth it! There are many resources for easy and quick office workouts. Time to say goodbye to mid-shift energy dips and hello to workdays filled with wellness.

A lot of well-known geniuses and innovators were thought to be ahead of their time. But that wasn’t the case back when they were just starting. They’re the misfits, the trouble-makers, the crazies — labelled as the round peg in a square hole. They would get jeered at and be shunned away until their ideas were proven correct in the future.

Here’s a interesting fact. Did you know that regular hand washing wasn’t recognized as a health protocol back then?

A 19th century doctor, Ignaz Semmelweis, noticed that mothers died because of a deadly disease. Later, he discovered that regular hand washing could minimize the spread of disease and reduce deaths. When he implemented regular handwashing in his department, the death rate dropped to zero. Unfortunately, the medical community rejected his ideas and mocked him. But later on, some scientists decided to look further into this practice, and proved he was right all along.

Today, handwashing became a standard health protocol — even before the pandemic. It became so prevalent that even children know how to wash their hands.

If you want to invent and build something new by challenging the status quo, be ready to be called a weirdo! You will face a lot of rejection and discouragement. People are afraid of the things they don’t understand, but sooner or later they will learn to appreciate them.

Be patient. Take courage and focus on what you do best, because that’s what you’re born to do. No one in the universe can replace and take over that unique role that you’re meant play in your lifetime. You are a unique being who’s been given unique gifts to be used in making this world a better place.

So, stay strong. Stay weird. Stay ahead.

With work-from-home set-ups becoming more common, we often see photos of our friends’ and colleagues’ aesthetically-pleasing workspaces. We can turn a mundane space into something exciting.

When we decorate our work areas, it gives us a sense of control, boosts confidence, and reduces stress. It motivates us to work, and brings us to our flow zone. This creates space that promotes creativity, making us feel limitless — ready to conquer anything.

Appreciating our decorated work areas is like appreciating our own work of art. We also let people catch a glimpse of who we are as a person, and what we value.

Decorating workplaces also ignites inspiration, encourages cooperation, and tightens bonds with our bosses and co-workers. It can even serve as a great ice breaker. We might even get surprised to discover that a colleague has the same interest as us.

So, what are we waiting for? This is the perfect time to create a unique space that inspires us to start work each morning. Own it! Go crazy! Surround ourself with things that spark you joy. And watch how that simple joy reflect on your work results. propels us to peak performance!

P.S. My mat is just right behind my work desk. I come down at any opportune time to stretch, keep me centered, and stay up and running the whole day. Aaah! And yes, that’s my painting behind me.
